DigitalFems Named Finalist at the DonaTIC Awards for the Second Year Running

For the second consecutive year, in 2023 DigitalFems has been recognized as a finalist in the DonaTIC Awards, this time in the category of «Best Initiative or Referent.» Organized by the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Secretariat of Digital Policies, these prestigious awards have celebrated women’s leadership in ICT for nearly a decade—spotlighting talent, groundbreaking projects, and role models who are reshaping the future of technology.

Why the DonaTIC Awards Matter

The DonaTIC Awards serve a dual purpose:

  1. Recognizing Excellence
They honor women driving innovation in professional, entrepreneurial, and academic spheres within ICT—a sector where female representation remains disproportionately low.

  2. Inspiring the Next Generation
By showcasing female role models, the awards aim to combat stereotypes, encourage STEM vocations among young girls, and normalize women’s leadership in tech.

  3. DigitalFems’ repeated recognition underscores its impact as a transformative force in gender equity—whether through advocacy, education, or community-building initiatives that empower women in tech.

Breaking the Male-Dominated Narrative

Despite progress, women account for just 19,5 % of ICT specialists  in Spain (Eurostat,2023). Awards like DonaTIC are critical because they:

Amplify visibility for women’s contributions in a field where they’re often overlooked.
Challenge biases by proving that innovation has no gender.
Fuel systemic change by incentivizing organizations to prioritize diversity.

As DigitalFems’ team often highlights:
«You can’t be what you can’t see.» Celebrating female referents isn’t just symbolic—it’s a catalyst for inclusion.

Gratitude and Forward Momentum

While we celebrate this milestone, we also acknowledge the work ahead. Thank you to the DonaTIC Awards for creating a platform where women in tech are valued—not as exceptions, but as leaders.

To our community: Join us in advocating for a tech sector where talent, not gender, defines success. Together, we’re rewriting the story.
